NEW JERSEY BOASTS NEW IAPMO CHAPTER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Jersey State League Officers Establish New Statewide Trade Association

July 21, 2010 - The International Association Plumbing & Mechanical Officials  has approved the formation of it's newest Chapter with the inclusion of the New Jersey Alliance of Master Plumbers. This non-profit corporation was the inspiration of New Jersey State League of Master Plumbers 1st Vice President Thomas F. Walsh, who encouraged New Jersey State League 3rd Vice President Anthony Schiavone and 4th Vice President Orlando Oliva to join him as the inaugural Officers of the new Association.

Mr. Walsh, also a Director for the New Jersey Plumbing Inspectors Association, had been in the process of creating a new, comprehensive cross-connection control training program, in an effort to assist Master Plumbers in protecting the health and safety of New Jersey residents. He asked Sean Cleary, of IAPMO to collaborate with Officers of the Alliance in creating the organization.

In June 2010, the New Jersey Alliance of Master Plumbers,  a non-profit corporation was created. With support from Anthony Schiavone and Orlando Oliva as the other inaugural officers for the new organization. Mr. Walsh, petitioned the IAPMO Board of Directors for permission to form a New Jersey Chapter.

The Chapter was approved on July 21, 2010 by the IAPMO Board of Directors. It is the only other New Jersey based IAPMO Chapter aside from the New Jersey Plumbing Inspectors Association, which became a Chapter in the 1970's according to sources there.

Mr. Cleary who also chairs the Cross Connection Control Technical Committee at the American Society of Sanitary Engineering offered support from both IAPMO and ASSE to launch the Chapters program. The first class were certified Cross Connection Control Device Testers in February of 2010 with all 13 candidates completing the training and successfully  passing the examination.

The Alliance is affiliated with the New Jersey Plumbing Inspectors Association, the New Jersey State League of Master Plumbers, the Monmouth County Master Plumbers, the Association of Master Plumbers From Rahway and Vicinity, and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.
